Hows the geometry differ between the M16 and the 29er? The Large 29 prototype is just a tiny bit shorter in reach than the XL 27.5 M16so the bikes are definitely getting longer. Afew years after 29-inch wheels started to become standard, some engineers in the bike industry began advocating for a wheel size that was right in between the old and the new. This was the 27.5-inch wheel. Advocates of 27.5-inch wheels, sometimes called 650b wheels, said that the middle size was the best of 29er and 26 Riderinput feels easier and more immediate, which is especially important for beginner riders. 27.5in wheels are also generally lighter (comparing like-for-like wheels) and accordingly they take less energy to accelerate, so the bike will fill nimbler and more playful (assuming we’re comparing to a an identically-geared 29in bike). Foractual mountain biking, I would 110% go for a 27.5. For cruising around town, a 26 is no problem at all. Saying this based on my experiences of flying or not flying over the bars with different wheel sizes while mountain biking, and with a lot of commuting experience as well. Honestly, I'd suggest a 29er.

Im finally looking to update my decades old 26" mountain bike and wondering whether it's easier or harder to climb on a 27.5" (assuming same chaingring/cassette/ratios) Also, debating between a 32 x 10-50 Eagle GX vs 30 x 11-46 XT setup and would appreciate any thoughts from those who've ridden both.
29 is a standard road wheel sized 622 mm. Known as 700 C. Differences in diameters, in cm, between standards are the following: 26″ [2.5 cm] 27.5″ [3.8 cm] 29″. So a substantial difference is between the
